Description
The sixth release of the China Mint’s Moon Festival Panda series is a tribute to the blue moon, a phenomenon that occurs every 32-33 months. The blue moon is represented on the medal as a titanium disc which has been heat-treated to a gorgeous blue shade.
This 45 mm diameter, 2020 dated proof medal contains 2 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
The medal features the rarely used “Z” Mint mark of the Shenzhen Guobao Mint.
The Blue Titanium inset measures 8.5 mm in diameter.
Mintage is limited to just 1,888 pieces.
Charming Panda Design
Obverse: An armillary sphere, an ancient three dimensional tool used to chart the position of celestial bodies, is depicted on the obverse, above a portion of China’s Great Wall. Inscriptions include “2020” and the Mint mark “Z.”
Reverse: A walking Giant Panda is illustrated on the reverse, surrounded by bamboo foliage, with the blue titanium moon hovering above. Inscribed “Full moon and full blossom are perfect bliss on Moon Festival” (Chinese characters), “MOON FESTIVAL” and “2 OZ AG .999.”
