This stunning silver bullion coin is an homage to the statuary Pixiu that guard the entrance to the Hall of Supreme Harmony in Bejing’s Forbidden City. A lion with a dragon head, the mythical Pixiu (Imperial Guardian Lion) symbolize fortune, happiness and wealth in Chinese culture.
The design features an imperial lion pair, regally seated upon a cache of ancient Chinese coins. As the guardian of wealth, the male lion on the left is portrayed with a paw on an embroidered sphere, signifying his world supremacy. Traditionally a protector against evil spirits, the female lion is depicted guarding an imperial lion cub. The only inscription is Perth Mint’s “P” Mint mark.
