The Royal Australian Mint's Shipwreck series is dedicated to history-making wrecks along Australia's coasts. Each coin of the series features an exciting triangular shape, along with commonly styled imagery. This release is an homage to the Zuytdorp, which succumbed to the waters off the Western Australian coast in 1712, with a cargo of newly minted Netherlands silver coinage.

This 2020 Zuytdorp Shipwreck coin contains 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
The coin is the second release of the series to feature a hand-applied antiqued finish.
Mintage is limited to just 1,000 coins.
Astoundingly Detailed Shipwreck Imagery
Obverse: The Zuytdorp's crew is depicted on the obverse, struggling to reach a lifeboat, while the ship's final moments are memorialized in the background. Below, amongst skeletal remains, an array of distinctive coinage from the Netherlands is scattered across the shore, along with the denomination "ONE DOLLAR." The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created by The Royal Mint's sculptor Jody Clark in 2015, is positioned at the pinnacle of the triangular shape, encircled by the inscription "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2020."

Reverse: The reverse features the Zuytdorp at full sail accompanied by a collection of design elements from the ship itself. When the cleverly designed coin is rotated, the ship appears to be capsized under the surface of the ocean, beneath the inscriptions "ZUYTDORP," "1oz .999 Ag" and "1712."
